Sign the petition to put Open-Source Paper Ballot Voting in the state budget now!

Nothing is more important to democracy than the security and transparency of elections.  Unfortunately, proprietary voting systems are inherently insecure and secret.  The 2017 DEF CON conference concluded that existing systems are a "national security threat".

Assemblymember David Chiu and Senator Scott Wiener, working with the California Clean Money Campaign, submitted a state budget request for $8 million in matching funds for counties to develop publicly owned, open-source paper ballot systems that are more secure because they are transparent for public inspection and use paper ballots that can be recounted by hand.  You can see links to the proposal and FAQ below.

Soon the Assembly & Senate Budget committees will make their recommendation on the proposal.  So please sign our petition urging Governor Jerry Brown, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, legislative budget leaders, and San Francisco leaders to support it!

Our petition will generate an email message to each recipient that we will send after you have a chance to edit and confirm.
